We gathered with new and old friends yesterday at Stark Park for our first day of our Fall Focus series and it was pure magic, as always! I absolutely loved interacting with the explorers as they discovered nature treasures as we walked down to the woods.
Explorers located a spot by the owl bench to store and organized our treasures that we'll use throughout our time together this Fall.
Why is focus an important skill to nurture?
"If we want to achieve our goals amid everything else that's going on, we have to learn to be focused and we have to learn to have self-control." - Ellen Galinsky
Nurturing focus skills helps kids, and grown-ups practicing directing, shifting and sustaining our attention. We use nature-based play to help kids practice and learn several building blocks of focus; how to feel present in the moment; how to zoom in and zoom out; how to wonder; and how to follow our interests.
Each class, we reinforce rituals that help us feel grounded, curious and open to discovery and we are incorporating new ones this season like our welcome stones and nature journaling at the end of our time together.
We can't wait to spend time together in the woods each week and to strengthen and nurture old + new connections.
