Watson Masonry Memorial Foundation

Our Story

The Watson Masonry Memorial Foundation was established in 2021 in memory of Frank and Barry Watson, a father and son team, who demonstrated a lifelong commitment to the trades. Their work can be admired throughout the North Shore of MA in commercial and residential settings.

The family recognizes the importance of exposure to these opportunities from a young age, extending support to aspiring tradespeople and breaking the stigma that careers in skilled trades are less than important. We are humbled to offer events at no cost, to honor the legacy, commitment and skill of their loved ones.

Barry E Watson

Barry is known for his craftmanship of many chimneys, fireplaces, tiled baths and kitchens throughout Essex County and countless businesses such as Turner Hill, Burlington High School, and the infamous Pig Barn concrete floor at the Topsfield Fair (if you know, you know). He was raised in Topsfield where he and his wife Debbie of 31 years built their home and raised their two daughters. He was a Masconomet Graduate, Class of 1981 and true outdoorsman earning his Eagle Scout Honor the year of graduation. He worked as a mason until his illness in 2017 and lived in Topsfield until the time of his death in 2021. A man of few words, but he found joy in his family and others close to him.

Frank A Watson

Frank is known for his work on countless residential chimneys and tiled baths throughout Essex County as well as many business venues in Topsfield such as the Shopping Center, Post Office, Topsfield Crossing, AmeriGas, and Parson’s Corner. He was an avid gardener and an involved member of the community and local organizations. In the past, he was a member of the Topsfield Volunteer Firefighters and served on the Executive Board as Treasurer for BSA Troop 81. He was a lifetime member of the Essex Agricultural Society, Lions Club, Essex County Beekeepers and the Essex County Farming Cooperative. Frank was raised in Topsfield where he lived and raised 4 kids, with his wife Peg, until his death in 2020. Everyone knew and loved Frank. He is sorely missed but his legacy lives on in his craftmanship and those who knew him.

Stephanie Watson Yaeger

Stephanie founded the Watson Masonry Memorial Foundation after brainstorming ways to give back to the community that supported her family during an incredibly difficult time. If it weren't for their family, friends and neighbors, Stephanie's Dad would not have been able to live at home during the remainder of his life.
She hopes to be able to help others gain exposure to alternative learning whether it's through a nature class or Willowdale Workshop.

Your donation helps us maintain our scholarship offering and expand our programs. We appreciate your ongoing support and encouragement to make our dream a reality.

We also accept in-kind donations of tools and supplies needed for our events. We prefer to use second-hand to reduce waste but we also have an amazon wish list that is updated regulary.
